Who is Iisakki Järvenpää?

In 1879, Mr. Iisakki Järvenpää founded the knife factory in Kauhava, Finland, which bears his name. The Finnish factory Iisakki Järvenpää was a supplier to the Russian tsar's court until 1917. When Finland was founded in 1917, Iisakki Järvenpää became a supplier to the Finnish army. Even today, graduates of Finnish officers' schools receive as a symbolic gift a knife Iisakki Järvenpää at the end of their studies and during their subsequent withdrawal from active military service.
